Meet Dr. Stassa Ferikes

The Woodlands Animal Care Center is excited to welcome Dr. Stassa Ferikes to Nemacolin and WACC. Dr. Ferikes was raised in Asheville, North Carolina, where she attended Appalachian State University and graduated with an undergraduate degree in biology. After receiving her veterinary degree from Tuskegee University in 2008, she then began working in general practice, followed by more than 10 years as an emergency veterinarian.

Dr. Ferikes has recently moved to Pennsylvania with her family and is looking forward to returning to general practice. Her clinical interests include preventative medicine, wound management, pain management, and end-of-life care.

One of her favorite parts of veterinary medicine is being able to foster the human-animal bond, which takes on many forms. She also loves that no two days are ever the same and that it’s always something new, different, and challenging in this field of practice.

When not at work, Dr. Ferikes enjoys spending time with her family, spending time outdoors, traveling, and trying new places to eat.

The team at Woodlands Animal Care Center looks forward to working with Dr. Ferikes and introducing our clients to her. To schedule an appointment, please contact us at 724.329.2838.

Meet Dr. Jess Anderson

The Woodlands Animal Care Center has a new associate beginning next week. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Jess Anderson to the Nemacolin and WACC families! She will be a great new addition to our animal care team with Dr. Marcus Ressler’s departure.

Dr. Jess Anderson was born and raised in Morgantown, West Virginia. She started her undergraduate career with the intention of pursuing human medicine, and at about the halfway point, she began working as a veterinary assistant at a local veterinary hospital. It soon became clear to her that she had a true passion for veterinary medicine.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from West Virginia University and moved south for veterinary school to Athens, Georgia. She graduated with magna cum laude honors from the University of Georgia in May 2012, receiving her doctorate of veterinary medicine (DVM).

In June 2012, Dr. Anderson moved to Lake Wales, Florida, where she started work as an associate veterinarian for Lake Wales Veterinary Hospital, a small-animal practice with five doctors. After a great year in Florida, she became homesick for family and the Mountain State, so she decided to move back home to Morgantown. She’s worked as an associate veterinarian for the past 10 years at Hillcrest Veterinary Clinic where she honed her skills and developed deep connections with her team, clients, and patients.

With an excitement to continue to grow and develop in her career, Dr. Anderson is looking forward to the opportunity to join our exceptional animal care team at the Woodlands Animal Care Center, and she will begin seeing furry patients and their pet parents on July 31, 2023.

Some of her interests include dermatology and preventative medicine. She is studying animal acupuncture and is excited to bring this additional method of pet care to the clinic. She has a passion for client communication and enjoys building relationships with current and future clients and their beloved pets.

The team at Woodlands Animal Care Center looks forward to working with Dr. Anderson and introducing our clients to her. To schedule an appointment, please contact us at 724.329.2838.
